Please be sure to check the weather the morning of the race at www.weathernetwork.ca to ensure you’re prepared for race day conditions. We recommend you dress warmly for before and after the race and bring a bag to check your warm clothes in so you’ll have those clothes immediately after. You won’t enjoy the food and atmosphere and big draw prize program outside if you’re cold. There is a BAGGAGE CHECK inside the arena at Appleby College on race day. Please check your bag 20-30 minutes before the race, not later or you’ll encounter lineups. Your race bib will have a baggage check tag to affix to your bag. A small donation of $1.00 to the United Way of Oakville is requested to check your bag so please remember to bring a loonie. When to pick-up your ChampionChip: RACE DAY ONLY! Be sure to show up early as all participants must pick up their chip on race morning. Chip pick-up will be located in the arena and open from 6:45 am -7:45 am (7:45 is when the Opening Ceremonies commence). SportStats will provide timing and results for the 10k events. You must have a chip in order to have a recorded time. NO CHIP = NO TIME, no exceptions. Your timing chip will be provided on the morning of the race. The chip must be attached to your shoe lace with the provided connector. Please note that all timing chips must be returned immediately following the event or there is a $50 charge for a chip not returned. Only 10k runners and power walkers will be chipped - 1k walkers DO NOT NEED A CHIP. Fill out the back of your RACE BIB! Please complete the back of your bib - this provides important contact, emergency and medical information (just in case). Portable toilets: There will be lots of portable toilets located in the Athlete's Village area beside the arena at Appleby College. In addition, there will be two portable toilets at the 2.5k aid station, two at the 5k station and one at the 7.5k station. No washroom access will be available in any of the buildings on-campus so plan to use the portable toilet facilities (each of which will have a hand sanitizer). What to wear on Race Day? is always a challenging question to answer - the following from Runner's World is an excellent guide on what to wear no matter what the weather: www.runnersworld.com. OPENING CEREMONIES - the event will officially commence at 7:45 am on race day in the Athlete's Village and include words from the honourable Mayor Rob Burton and an aerobic warm-up by Revolution Health & Fitness.
